WHY.
Below is a draft of an email I am sending to many local healthcare providers, educators, and services in the area. Below, also shares an intimate look at why I am so passionate about this area. You will see from the letter, I am conducting research in a specific area - environmental psychology. I am also working on a presentation to provide parents of STEM students information relating to interior design and learning/lifestyle.
Hi,
My name is Bean- yes, that’s right… Bean.
I am an Interior Design Consultant and Artist with a rich history in medicine. You may know this combination is far from unusual as many healthcare providers look for respite in a day from healthcare and turn to the creative. I have 10 years of experience in an ICU and 20 years of experience in art and design.
Why I am writing. I had a horrific and beautiful thing happen to me not so long ago. My boyfriend suffered a massive heart attack in front of me and required CPR. He is alive and thriving- thanks to my past training and the help of many other amazing trained professionals. I tell you this story because, it has propelled me into pursuing accreditation to be a provider of continuing medical education (CME). Joining my love of medicine and design. In this pursuit I will have up to 2 years to create appropriate programs and partnerships.
To create programs, I am doing initial research in the areas of child development, well-being, and weight loss as they relate to interior design. (I myself have lost 120 lb’s and been able to maintain the loss for over 3 years)
You may have seen me speak about this and environmental psychology at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center in 2016. “How a coffee table can change your life” or UCF’s STEM program with Gino Perrotte.
I am starting this portion of my journey with a lot of naiveté. I do not mean for that to be flippant, I am very passionate about these areas and this research. I would like to educate healthcare, families, and our culture from this data. I realized when I left medicine and went into design, I had the ability to impact a person’s life every time they came home.
As I said above, I am new to this venture (CME’s) and ask for you to participate in this survey or forward it to the appropriate department or person that would best be able to assist.
I will be providing the data on my website on or around 2/22/2018. https://www.lifestylesbybean.com/
Please let me know if you have questions, thoughts, or if this subject inspires you? If you prefer not to be contacted again- please just let me know.
I thank you very much for your time and consideration.
